Farmhouse for 6 & Cottage for 2, in Cognac country
For a truly relaxing holiday in South-West France, set among vineyards & sunflower fields of the Cognac region, our 2 holiday properties are just perfect. With large pool, lovely gardens & panoramic views over the gentle countryside of the Charente-Maritime to old Cognac town, just 20 minutes away.
Our 300 year-old, traditional Charentaise farmhouse is near Cognac, and set within walled gardens. The house sleeps 6 and is comfortably furnished, with paintings, ornaments and rugs throughout. It is well equipped with TV, satellite, DVD and WiFi.
The cottage for 2, is a converted stone stable in the corner of the gardens.
The tiny hamlet of Coucoussac lies on a hilltop, nestling amongst vineyards and sunflower fields within Cognac's "Fins Bois" region, of SW France. The property is perfectly situated to explore the surrounding countryside on foot, or bikes (freely available). A restaurant is just a 3-minute stroll along the rue de Bellevue, where the friendly owners serve delicious regional dishes.
There are many places to relax, amid the scents and colours in the gardens. Perhaps read a book under the shady pergola or on a sun-bed beside the swimming pool. Maybe enjoy a glass of the local, award-winning wine, and watch the evening sun across the Charente landscape from the "Point-de-Vue", before wandering along the lane for dinner at the auberge!
Eating is usually al fresco during summer and for guests in the farmhouse, there is a summer kitchen with BBQ & fridge, next to the dining pergola by the pool.
For guests in the cottage, the garden-side enjoys the morning sun - ideal for breakfast, whilst it's private courtyard faces west - and is therefore perfect for dinner, overlooking the uninterrupted country views and spectacular sunsets (a BBQ is provided here).
